Washington, D.C. (May 11, 2021)—Today, Chairwoman of the Committee on Oversight and Reform Carolyn B. Maloney and Ranking Member James Comer introduced the bipartisan Postal Service Reform Act to make needed financial and operational reforms to the United States Postal Service.

“I am proud to introduce the bipartisan Postal Service Reform Act to help ensure the Postal Service can continue to serve Americans on a more sustainable financial footing for years to come,” said Chairwoman Maloney.  “This landmark legislation will make foundational reforms and add transparency to the ensure the Postal Service provides the high quality of service Americans expect and deserve.  Ultimately, this bill will preserve and strengthen the Postal Service, one of our nation’s most vital and respected institutions.”

“The American people rely on the U.S. Postal Service for everything from bills to receiving prescriptions to staying in touch with their families,” said Ranking Member Comer.  “It is an incredibly important institution and we must ensure it’s around in the future.  The Postal Service Reform Act, coupled with Postmaster General DeJoy’s business reform plan, will help put USPS on the road to fiscal stability, make it more efficient and sustainable for generations, and ensure continued service to the American people.  I appreciate Postmaster General DeJoy delivering a solid business plan that Congress has waited on for years, and the partnership and leadership of Chairwoman Maloney in working with the Republicans on much needed legislative reforms.”

Subcommittee on Government Operations Chairman Gerald E. Connolly and Congresswoman Virginia Foxx are original co-sponsors of the Postal Service Reform Act.
