Chairwoman Velázquez on Earth Day
April 22, 2019
Washington, D.C.— Today, House Small Business Committee Chairwoman Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) issued the following statement recognizing Earth Day:
“When it comes to protecting our planet—few tasks could be so pressing. Scientists have overwhelmingly agreed that climate change is a real threat and is already ravishing our communities.
“This Earth Day, we must honor our commitment to our planet by taking action to transition away from fossil fuels by embracing cleaner energy sources. The good news is that small businesses are at the forefront of this charge, both as innovators and harnessers of green technology and energy.
“In our new Democratic Majority, the Small Business Committee will hold hearings that examine and support the role of small businesses in making our economy greener, our air purer, and our water safer for future generations.”
In honor of Earth Day, Chairwoman Velázquez has released a factsheet on the impact of small firms in the green economy. You can find it here.
