E&C Announces Budget Hearing with Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael Regan

Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Environment and Climate Change Subcommittee Chairman Paul Tonko (D-NY) announced today that the Environment and Climate Change Subcommittee will hold a hearing on Tuesday, May 17, at 10:15 a.m. (EDT) in the John D. Dingell Room, 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Michael Regan on the fiscal year 2023 budget request for EPA. The hearing is entitled, “The Fiscal Year 2023 EPA Budget.”

“Whether it’s protecting our fundamental right to safe water, enforcing clean air protections, cleaning up PFAS forever chemicals, or combating the growing climate crisis, never before has the EPA’s mission been so urgent or so crucial to our collective well-being,” said Pallone and Tonko. “Thankfully, the Biden Administration’s budget request recognizes that environmental health is public health and makes critical investments in our communities. We look forward to hearing from Administrator Regan and discussing the budget proposal, as well as EPA’s role in building a stronger, more sustainable economy and clean future.”

This will be a hybrid hearing that includes both in-person and remote member attendance via Cisco Webex video conferencing. Members of the public may view the hearing via live webcast accessible on the Energy and Commerce Committee’s website. Please note the webcast will not be available until the hearing begins.

The Committee strongly recommends that members of the media view the proceedings remotely. The Capitol and House Office Buildings currently have restricted access. Seating in the Committee room for credentialed media is very limited. Media must RSVP to their respective press gallery no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, May 16.
