House Committee on Veterans Affairs Republicans

Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.), the Ranking Member of the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, released the following statement after the House passed five bipartisan veterans’ bills this week:

“This week, the House passed five bills to continue to deliver on the promise we have made to the men and women who have served. These bills would help homeless veterans receive legal assistance, give student veterans additional information about GI Bill eligible schools, stop companies from exploiting contracting loopholes that take work away from veteran-owned small businesses, allow surviving spouses of servicemembers who die on active duty to terminate car leases, and make all Congressionally mandated reports publicly available to veterans and taxpayers. I applaud Chairman Takano and my colleagues on both sides of the aisle for their hard work on these important pieces of legislation.”

The following bills were passed by the House:

  • H.R. 561: Protecting Business Opportunities for Veterans Act
  • H.R. 2227: Gold Star Spouses and Spouses of Injured Servicemembers Leasing Relief Expansion Act
  • H.R. 3749: Legal Services for Homeless Veterans Act
  • H.R. 4613: VA Reporting Transparency Act
  • H.R. 4852: G.I. and Veterans Education Empowerment (GIVE) Act
