Each year the entertainment industry recognizes musicians, actors, and members of the film marking industry for their contributions to radio, television, and motion pictures. This year on February 9, the Academy Awards ceremony will conclude the 2020 Awards Season.
This is a perfect opportunity to spotlight award-winning employees at the Commerce Department as Awardees are among our best and brightest employees. Their diligence and contributions to creating the conditions for economic growth and opportunity have not gone unnoticed.
Here’s a look at several award recipients: In October 2019, over two hundred and sixty Commerce employees received gold and silver medals, the most prestigious award bestowed at the Commerce Department’s 71st Annual Honor Awards Program.
Six National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) employees were recognized at the annual Women of Color in STEM conference for significant achievement in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) in Detroit, Michigan.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology honored over 200 staff members for their work supporting U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness at the 47th Annual NIST Awards Ceremony held in December 2019.
President Trump named 314 scientists and researchers as recipients of the 2019 Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), the highest honor bestowed by the United States Government to outstanding scientists and engineers who are beginning their independent research careers and who show exceptional promise for leadership in science and technology. Jamie R. Rhome with NOAA’s National Hurricane Center received the prestigious Service to America medal for his pioneering work in forecasting and warning the public about the deadly and destructive inundation of water associated with a hurricane’s storm surge.
