Overturned kayak found, Coast Guard, local agencies search for owner near Cambria

SAN PEDRO, Calif. — The Coast Guard is searching for a possible missing person in the water near Cambria, Tuesday evening.

Good Samaritans reported an overturned 12-foot kayak approximately 100 yards offshore near Leffingwell Landing to Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach watchstanders at approximately 4 p.m.

Watchstanders dispatched a Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco Forward Operating Base Mugu MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and a Coast Guard Station Morro Bay 47-foot Motor Lifeboat crew to begin searching for the possible person in the water.

Crews from the California Highway Patrol, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Cambria Fire Department and California State Parks are assisting with the search.
