An SSF may sponsor an event for a candidate to which the general public is invited and may pay the costs of the event as an in-kind contribution to the candidate. However, if any of the connected organization’s resources are used (such as staff time, catering arrangements, printing, email/mailing list, meeting room), the SSF must pay for the full cost of the use in advance in order to avoid illegal facilitation by the connected organization.
Is your SSF interested in sponsoring a candidate appearance? Visit our website for more information on planning and reporting SSF-sponsored candidate appearances.
